FIELD: industry of chemical fibers. SUBSTANCE: polyvinyl alcohol fiber is prepared by wet forming followed by washing with water and squeezing out up to 100-200% of fiber mass, treatment at tension (3-25% of rupture one) with aqueous solution containing 5-20 g/l one of the following substance: phosphoric acid mono- and diester potassium salt and synthetic alcohols of C7-C9-fraction and polyethylene glycol; polyethylene glycol monoalkylphenyl esters of the general formula CnH2n+1C6H4O(C2H4)OmH where n 8-10; m 3-12; mixture of polyhydroxyethylene glycol esters of higher fatty alcohols of C16-C18-fraction at hydroxyethylation degree 2-20. Treated fiber is dried at 80-120 C for 1-10 s, then thermotreated and/or thermostretched at 80-250 C for 40-80 s at tension 1-15% of rupture value, crimped and cut. Prepared fiber shows winding 2-6 fold/m and contains 0.3-0.8% of applied preparation fiber mass on the surface. EFFECT: enhanced quality of fiber. 3 cl, 9 tbl
