FIELD: organic chemistry. SUBSTANCE: method of synthesis of new derivatives of 1-aryl-2-arylhydroxyethane of the formula Ar-CH(R)-CH(R′)-O-Ar′ where Ar′ a ring of the formula (I) , Ar a ring of the formula (II) where p and n 1, 2; Z H, lower alkyl and others; Y - hydrogen, lower alkyl and others; X hydroxyl and others. Reaction conditions: compounds of the formula Ar(OH)(X) where Ar, X as indicated above were interacted with arylacetonitrile in the presence of acid catalyst. Synthesized compound is treated with lower alkylchloroformate followed by reduction to diarylethanol which is alkylated in the basic medium using carboxylic acid derivatives or phosphoric, or sulfuric, or sulfonic acids. Synthesized compounds were used in medicine. EFFECT: improved method of synthesis. 6 tbl
