TRAILER TURNTABLE Russian patent published in 1995 - IPC

FIELD: automotive industry. SUBSTANCE: turntable of trailer has upper race 1 and lower race 2 with paths forming groove accommodating bodies 3 of revolution engaging with strengthened sections of paths. Each path has crescent-shaped strengthened section with maximum thickness on line of initial angle of contact. Most loaded section has maximum hardness of surface HRC 40-45, and middle of this section coincides with line of initial angle of contact. Owing to crescent-shaped strengthened section, race paths wear uniformly over profile. Most loaded strengthened section is located at 3-3.5 mm from edge of path. Under static load, ball engages with paths in middle of most loaded strengthened sections. When trailer is running, point of contact of ball with path is displaced, under action of radial loads, towards radial axis where value of strengthened layer is decreased.
