FIELD: heating of slabs. SUBSTANCE: method of heating of thin slabs in furnace consists in side charge and discharge of slabs, and their step displacement in furnace. Innovation is in the fact that the step of slab displacement in furnace is not less than the width of the hearth pipe or hot bed, or gap between the bottoms of travelling hearth. At the instant of beginning of slab motion at its discharge from the furnace or displacement in it the slab adjoining it is held against axial displacements.
