FIELD: chemical technology. SUBSTANCE: method involves the use of β-chlorovinyldichloroarsine (lewisite) as arsenic-containing compound. Liquid lewisite (b-chlorovinyldichloroarsine) is sprayed in oxygen up to aerosol state using sprayer. Aerosol is fed in hydrogen-oxygen flame of the same sprayer. Lewisite is oxidized in flame to arsenic oxide, carbon dioxide, water, hydrogen chloride and chlorine. These products were fed in oxygen flow from reactor into absorber sprayed with hydrochloric acid solution. Here finely divided arsenic oxide is entrapped which is precipitated. The rest oxidation products were entrapped in the second absorber sprayed with sodium hydroxide aqueous solution. The yield is 350 g arsenic oxide from 1 kg lewisite. EFFECT: expansion of raw base of arsenic-containing compounds.
