FIELD: automotive industry. SUBSTANCE: energy-absorbing bumper has trough-shaped case and mated pair of energy absorbing members, one member being hinge-connected with case, and second member, with vehicle frame. First energy-absorbing member is made in form of stepped screw whose larger step has multistart thread. Second energy-absorbing member is made in form of nut mating with smaller step of screw and provided with cutting edge on end face surface pointed to larger step of screw. Hinge coupling of nut and frame is made in form of ball bearing whose outer race is stationary coupled with frame and inner race is made integral with nut. Screw is made of plastic material, and nut, of hard material. EFFECT: increased plastic service life of bumper at multiple loads owing to conversion of translational motion of plastically deformable members into rotary motion. 3 dwg
