FIELD: foundry practice; casting of lithium-containing aluminium alloys. SUBSTANCE: method for preparation of flux containing cornalite and lithium chloride involves grinding cornalite and lithium chloride to a particle size of not over 2 mm and mixing them. Cornalite is preliminarily processed by melting, settling for not under 5 min and crystallizing after separation of the lower layer of cornalite whose height is not less than 10% the height of its melt level in the container. Cornalite is processed not earlier than 7 days before preparation of flux. EFFECT: quality of melt is improved by enhancing the protective and lubricating properties of flux. 2 cl, 1 tbl
