FIELD: oil and gas production. SUBSTANCE: device for testing the pipe joints for leaks has clamping bearing slip 18 and clamping hinged slip 19 articulated together; secured in these slips are detachable flexible seal 16 and segment half-rings 17; device is also provided with drive of hinged clamping slip and locking mechanism with hydropneumatic control system. Locking mechanism is made in form of fork body 20 with taper hole whose inclined sides press wedge drawn inside; this wedge is formed by tail- pieces with bevels of clamping slips in closed position; slips are set in motion by means of drive of locking mechanism; they move over guides 21 of body which are engageable with slide blocks secured in upper and lower parts of bearing slip. Drive of locking mechanism is made in form of double-arm lever with swing support and actuating cylinder; to create larger force for opening the locking mechanism, use is made of piston chamber of actuating cylinder of locking mechanism drive and for creating force for cylinder of locking mechanism drive and for creating force for locking, use is made of rod chamber. Beside that, tail-pieces of one of slips are provided with projections to avoid displacement of slips relative to each other; these projections are received by grooves provided on end-pieces of other slip.
