SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to handling means for drill rods and a drill rod support thereof. Support comprises a socket configured to receive a portion of a length of a drill rod, and a plurality of radially circumferentially equidistant-spaced grooves for a clamping plate formed inside and extending longitudinally along the inner surface of the wall. Each of the grooves for the clamping plate includes a longitudinally extending guide of the clamping plate having spaced-apart angled planes. Support also comprises clamping means installed in the socket and movable between clamping and releasing positions relative to the drill rod. Clamping means comprises a plurality of movable clamping plates. One clamping plate is located in each of the grooves for the clamping plate in the socket radially arranged at equal intervals along the circumference. Each of the clamping plates includes a clamping surface and a guide for the track, having spaced-apart inclined planes located on the side opposite to the clamping surface. Inclined planes of the guide for the track rest against the oppositely directed but likewise inclined planes of the tracks of the clamping plate of the socket forming biasing means.

EFFECT: technical result is the safe retention of the drill rod.
