FIELD: shipbuilding. SUBSTANCE: stern-tube bearing is made of cylindrical sections 3 and is located in fixed metal bush 1 secured in housing of stern tube 2. Bearing is provided with pressure bush 14 made in form of split bush with flange mounted on propeller shaft 10 in front of flange 5 of bush 1. When wear of aft section 12 reaches its maximum limit, it is replaced by means of pressure bush 14 which is extended to mounting position forming clearance where new section is mounted. This done, bush 14 is returned to working position; old section 12 is extended and new section is retracted. EFFECT: enhanced reliability. 4 dwg
