ATTACHED THRUSTER Russian patent published in 1996 - IPC

Abstract RU 2053166 C1

FIELD: shipbuilding. SUBSTANCE: attached thruster has propulsive unit 5 secured in end portion of beam 2 which is articulated to ship's hull and suspended from ropes 7 connected with their drive. Propulsive unit 5 is connected with beam 2 by means of rigid profiled ring 3 which is connected in its turn with unit 5 for relative angular motion about axis parallel to plane of ring due to rollers arranged between unit and ring. Unit 5 is connected with ropes 7 at two diametrically opposite points which are most distant from its axis of rotation. Housing of unit 5 is made in form of water- tight volume where motor for driving the propeller is located. Secured on bottom of unit 5 are two walls which form U-shaped nozzle for propeller together with bottom. Swivel rudders directly adjoin the nozzle. EFFECT: enhanced reliability. 2 cl, 10 dwg
