FIELD: manufacture of machines for tailoring industry. SUBSTANCE: double-stitch sewing machine has twin mechanisms for moving thread carriers and loopers. Twin moving mechanisms are located symmetrically on both sides of stitched material. Machine also has mechanism moving the material. Additionally introduced into the design is one more material moving mechanism and twin mechanisms for moving the loopers across stitching and having switch. Needle holders have two and more sockets for needle installation. Value of looper stroke along and across the stitching exceeds one half of stitch length and distance between needle sockets. All twin mechanisms have similar design and operate with stitched material alternately. When opposite needles are installed one opposite to the other, material is stitched with simple single-line (or double line) stitch. When opposite needles are spaced relative to one another across stitching, material edge is overstitched by two- or four-thread stitches. When transverse stroke of looper is engaged, material is preliminarily stitched (basted) by one or two special stitches.
