FIELD: agricultural engineering, in particular, harvesting of long-stalk ensilage and feed crops. SUBSTANCE: fodder harvesting machine has cutterbar, grinder and stalk feeding apparatus with two successive augers having ribs with edge-to-center oriented coils and transverse auger positioned below leading auger with respect to machine advancement direction. Transverse auger is positioned so as to define space between its rib and rib of leading auger, which is rotated in direction opposed to that of transverse auger. Transverse auger has edge-to-center oriented coiling. Such construction allows reliable gripping of cut stalks and baffling cut stalks from cutterbar to be provided as well as deformation and partial compression of stalk mass toward centers of augers positioned one above the other to be effectuated and introduction of cut stalk mass into narrowing auger to be conducted with following conveyance of mass into grinding unit.
