FILTERING CENTRIFUGE WITH TURNABLE-INSIDE-OUT FILTER Russian patent published in 1996 - IPC

FIELD: filtering centrifuges. SUBSTANCE: filtering centrifuge has housing 1 with drum 11 mounted rotatable inside it. Drum 11 has radial holes 12 for passage of filtrate; radial holes are covered with filter cloth 15 which closes cover 18 on one end side of drum. Cover has hole for loading suspension to be filtered, feed pipe 19 passing through hole in cover and safety device which is used to prevent drum from opening till it is revolving at speed exceeding critical value; if this value is exceeded opening the drum involves danger. Drum and cover are mounted for axial displacement relative to each other by means of hollow shaft set in rotation and carrier shaft moving inside it for turning filter cloth inside out. Fitted on carrier shaft 9 are travel screw and nut engageable with it. Either travel screw or nut is set in rotation by means of motor. Depending on speed of travel screw or nut relative to speed of hollow shaft 3 and drum 11, carrier shaft 9 moves in hollow shaft 3 to and fro as a telescope. Drum 11 opens when speed of travel screw or nut exceeds speed of hollow shaft 3 and closes when speed of travel screw or nut is below that of hollow shaft 3; maximum speed of travel screw or nut is less than critical speed of drum 11, thus drum 11 opens only when it is revolving at speed below critical limit.
