FIELD: medicine, in particular, technical facilities allowing the blind to determine the number of steps walked by ear; the pedometer can be useful for sportsmen and people indulging in a health-improvement run, for whom it is difficult to follow the digital indicator. SUBSTANCE: when a step is made, the device accommodating a movable permanent magnet is shaken, the magnetic field of the permanent magnet closes the contacts of the reed relay, whose circuit incorporates a storage battery and a resistor. Pulses are generated at the resistor, which are then reproduced in a serial acoustic code in the earphone so as to determine the number of steps. The podometer allows the user to program the number of steps, and after the preset number of steps is accomplished, it produces an audio signal. To this end, the podometer is provided with a code setter, comparator, pulse stretcher, OR gate, audio-signal generator and earphone. EFFECT: enhanced convenience in use. 2 dwg
