MASS FOR FABRICATING DECORATIVE FACING TILES Russian patent published in 1996 - IPC

FIELD: manufacture of building materials. SUBSTANCE: mass has (in wt %): 28-38 nepheline slime, 4-10 gabbroids fr.more 3.0 mm, 9-16 fr.3-1 mm, 16- 21 fr.1-0 mm, 6-8 quartz sand fr.0.5-2 mm, 2-24 alkali binder. The latter, in the form of stabilized slip, has (in wt %): 12-14 sodium carbonate, 6-7 soluble glass, 9-10 ground clay, 22-25 dying pigment, the balance being water. Advantage of mass is high strength and abrasion resistance of tiles, their high decorative quality when imitate natural facing materials or stones. The mass itself and procedure of its preparation meet environmental safety requirements. Tiles may be used both for internal and external facing. In addition, mass is intended to be used without roasting, tiles being strengthened by hydrothermal treatment with brief autoclave regimes under low pressure (up to 0.3 MPa). EFFECT: increased strength of material and simplified preparation.
