FIELD: welding; surfacing of cylindrical surface of step shaft. SUBSTANCE: electrode head has gripper 1 with axial channel 2 and radial channel 7. Rod 3 with roller electrode 6 is cantilever-mounted for turning in gripper axial channel. Lock 8 for engagement with rod is installed in radial channel. Screw groove 9 made on outer surface of rod has angle of helix equal to self-braking angle. Switch 12 mounted on gripper serves to control drives providing rotation of shaft to be surfaced and longitudinal travel of gripper. Carrier 11, also mounted on gripper, engages by one end with groove of rod and by other end, with switch. EFFECT: enhanced reliability of electrode head, improved convenience. 6 dwg
