FIELD: waste water purification. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of water desalting by way of passing it through cationite and anionite filters, in particular, when purifying water from industrial waste to remove harmful admixtures and to isolate chemicals from solutions. In method of invention, when water is desalted by way of its successive treatments in cationite and anionite filters, which in turn recover eluates, water pH is adjusted to a value within the range 2-6 and thereupon water is directed into ion-exchange filters. When adjusting water pH, its chemical analysis is taken into account: if waste water is alkaline solution, acid is added; if acidic solution, required pH is achieved by alkali treatment.
