FIELD: pulp-and-paper industry, in particular, pressing and calender parts of papermaking machine. SUBSTANCE: roller has two supporting shoes mounted on immovable supporting shaft and adapted to regulate deviations of roller shell in the direction of pressure line (N). Two guiding shoes are mounted on supporting shaft adjacent to each end of roller for applying force to roller shell to stabilize position of roller shell relative to immovable supporting shaft. At least one guiding shoe at each roller end is provided with compensating piston allowing outer surface of roller to move in radial direction relative to guiding shoe support on immovable supporting shaft. At least one guiding shoe at each roller end is mounted for rotation on fixed supporting shaft. It allows the shoe to rotate about axis lying in plane extending in parallel with pressure plane (NP) extending through pressure line (N) and roller longitudinal axis. Guiding shoes apply equal stabilizing forces directed perpendicular to pressure plane regardless of progressive motion of roller shell relative to immovable supporting shaft. EFFECT: increased efficiency, simplified construction and enhanced reliability in operation. 8 cl, 4 dwg
