FIELD: electric communications; development of equipment for multichannel digital transmission systems using time-division multiplexing. SUBSTANCE: single-step asynchronous conversion of input streams with stuffing instructions formed only at one step (asynchronous input step) is proposed instead of double- or multiple-step conversion using asynchronous interfacing of input digital streams where stuffing instructions should be formed in each of them; in our case, all subsequent conversions (merging and division of digital streams) is conducted synchronously so that stuffing instructions are not to be formed. Proposed principle of merging and dividing digital streams greatly reduces hardware content (smaller number of intermediate asynchronous interfacing units, sync signal receivers, generator units, interface units is required), improves noise immunity and reliability of device due to reduced number of stuffing-instruction forming steps, each being subject to the effect of noise in transmission channels and introducing noise immunity impairing component as a whole. EFFECT: simplified design, improved noise immunity and reliability of device. 2 dwg
