FIELD: cellular materials. SUBSTANCE: polycarbosilane is poured in under inert gas atmosphere at 200-280 C into press mold to form elastic cells or film consisting of one layer of elastic cells whose walls can rotate in respect to each other. Press mold is then cooled to room temperature, cells or film are removed and, under air atmosphere, several cells or films are stacked and compressed by way of applying air pressure 0.02-0.03 MPa, whereupon temperature is gradually raised to 300-310 C and maintained for 30- 60 min, then to 1200-1300 C and maintained for 30-60 min until elastic foam material is formed. Physical and chemical properties of material are characteristic of silicon carbide and mechanical ones of gums. Material may find use for manufacturing seals, dampers, elastic containers, tires, and other elastic objects serviceable under conditions of cryogenic and high temperatures, corrosive environment, etc. EFFECT: improved consumer's quality of material. 1 dwg
