FIELD: production of adhesive for wallpaper, production of stiffener for printing paint. SUBSTANCE: cellulose acetate is affected by hydrolysis within 2-5 h. The process is carried out in aqueous acetate medium in the presence of perchloric acid (its quantity being 9.5-16 mass parts per 100 mass parts of cellulose acetate). Mixture of water and acetic acid is affected by distillation to remove acetic acid, the process takes place at 95 ± 5 C in vacuum at 300-990 mm Hg. EFFECT: improved efficiency.
