FIELD: electrical engineering; AC supply mains where surge voltages may appear under normal and emergency conditions. SUBSTANCE: protective gear has threshold element connected to final element that functions at the same time as protective gear. Final element has diode bridge with power thyristor whose control circuit incorporates field-effect transistor. Drain of the latter is connected to thyristor anode, source, to gate electrode, and gate, through voltage divider built around resistors, to supply voltage rectifier built up of diode with storage capacitor and threshold element connected in parallel between transistor gate and thyristor anode. EFFECT: improved reliability and overvoltage capacity, reduced power loss at loads, surge-voltage protection during initial switching-on. 1 dwg
