FIELD: machine-tool industry. SUBSTANCE: lateral feed kinematic chain consisting of mechanical links is replaced with hydraulic chain. Used as a power actuator is a hydraulic stepping motor, controlled by a mechanical hydraulic pulse generator made in the form of rotating control sleeve. Number of slots in the sleeve ensures constant ratio of pulses received by the stepping hydraulic motor of the lateral feed drive with simultaneous longitudinal and lateral positioning of the lathe carriage, thus providing for the required value of taper of the item being turned.
