CATHODE COMPARTMENT OF ALUMINIUM ELECTROLYZER (VERSIONS) Russian patent published in 1997 - IPC

Abstract RU 2075551 C1

FIELD: aluminium metallurgy, aluminium electrolyzers. SUBSTANCE: the known designs of electrolyzers have the combined current supplying cathode rods - steel electrode and flexible busbar rigidly welded to it, and steel electrode through flexible busbar is welded to external current-supplying busbar to form an integral joint. In the offered design of electrolyzer each flexible busbar has terminal rigidly connected to it and detachably connected with steel electrode (blooms). For this purpose, steel electrode has conical socket clad with aluminium alloy and in which conical end of flexible busbar is installed. Detachable connection of flexible busbar with steel electrode allows multiple use of aluminium electrolyzer busbar. The invention provides for some versions of detachable connection of flexible busbar with steel electrodes. EFFECT: higher efficiency. 4 cl, 6 dwg
