SEALING OF CYLINDER-PISTON GROUP OF INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE Russian patent published in 1997 - IPC

FIELD: mechanical engineering; sealing of cylinders of internal combustion engines and other piston machines. SUBSTANCE: sealing arrangement of cylinder-piston group has sealing member made in form of multiple coil rectangular-section spring 1 manufactured on antifriction material and installed with interference in groove 2 of piston 3. Piston groove 2 is made in cross section in form of dovetail. Outer surfaces 4 of extreme free coils 5 and 6 of spring 1 are conical and engage with corresponding side surfaces 7,8 of piston groove 2. Mating conical surfaces of sealing member and piston groove are made equidistant, and cone angles of outer surfaces 4 of extreme coils 5 of spring 1 are made equal to cone angles of side surfaces 7 and 8 of piston groove mating with the outer surfaces and are equal to 12,5± 3^° degrees.
