METHOD FOR PRODUCING STRIPPED VENEER Russian patent published in 1997 - IPC

FIELD: wood-working industry. SUBSTANCE: method involves preliminarily working thin round timber material to produce bars with right hexahedral section; assembling block by glueing rectangular inserts into slots defined between faces of adjacent hexahedral bars, with inserts being obtained by longitudinal splitting of portion of bars into halves; cutting unbarked thin round timber bars in transverse direction into measured portions equal to the length of subsequent glued block. Obtained bars are worked at six sides by means of milling-barring unit. Milling heads contain cutters of different construction. Method further involves milling and sawing 19% of the total number of hexagonal bars into two equal halves in longitudinal direction; applying water-resistant glue to surfaces of hexagonal bars; assembling bars to obtain blocks; embracing block with metal belts to provide for tight contact between surfaces to be glued; removing metal belts prior to stripping; feeding block ready for stripping to stripping lathe to produce veneer, which may be used in veneer sheet manufacture. EFFECT: increased efficiency by improved bar preliminary preparing operation prior to stripping operation, wider operational capabilities and enhanced reliability in operation. 2 dwg
