FIELD: agriculture. SUBSTANCE: proposed method can be applicable for construction of closed horizontal drainage of irrigated lands, predominantly on alkaline and solonetzized soils as well as on alkali-affected and salt-affected soils. Gypsum or phosphorous gypsum are used as calcium-carrying ameliorants. Contents of exchangeable sodium in soil-absorbing complex and of soda in half-meter zone of soil where pipes are laid and filters are formed, in soil of back-fill of trench and in soils of drained territory are determined. Ameliorants are applied with difference into each zone in doses providing full replacement of exchangeable sodium with calcium ions and complete neutralization of soda during period of operation of drainage. EFFECT: increased efficiency of protection of closed horizontal drainage against siltation and silicatization.
