SHIP'S BULWARK Russian patent published in 1997 - IPC

FIELD: shipbuilding; design of medium-capacity and large- capacity transport facilities, especially those having wide hatch openings in upper deck. SUBSTANCE: bulwark has inner wall which forms three- dimensional structure together with bulwark rail, outer wall and deck stringer of upper deck plating; this three-dimensional structure has trapezoidal section inside which buttresses are mounted in plane of frames. Besides that, outer wall of bulwark is inclined relative to inner wall which is mounted vertically and upper portion of outer wall is inclined relative to its lower portion towards ship's midsection.
