METHOD OF CURING OF HIDES AND DEVICE FOR ITS EMBODIMENT Russian patent published in 1997 - IPC

FIELD: processes of curing hides of farm animals; applicable at meat-packing plants and slaughterhouses. SUBSTANCE: method of curing of hides includes treatment of hides in rotating cylindrical drum and withdrawal of fluid formed in curing of hides. Hides in rotating cylindrical drum with horizontal rotation axis is exposed to vibration in vertical direction with frequency of 1-6 Hz with amplitude of 0.07-0.09 m. Fluid formed during curing of hides is withdrawn continuously for the entire cycle of curing. The device for embodiment of the offered method of curing of hides has cylindrical drum 2 with loading hatch 3 closed with cover 4. Activating shelves 5 are located on the inner wall of cylindrical drum. Blades 6 for unloading is located on its external surface. Located under cylindrical drum is semicylindrical bottom plate 7 which serves for unloading of cured hides by definite portions. Spray nozzles for cooling the external surface of cylindrical drum are located above cylindrical drum. Drum is installed on frame 9 and rests on shock absorbers 10. Device for hides curing is provided with a system of excitation of vertical mechanical vibrations with its own drive. Cylindrical drum has horizontal axis of rotation and its diameter equals 0.6-1.2 of average length of hides of bovine animals. Actuating shelves 5 are located along the drum element. Rotary drive of cylindrical drum is connected with it by means of flexible member. Actuating shelves are 0.06-0.1 m high. Each actuating shelf upper is rounded off with radius equalling 1/20 diameter of cylindrical drum. EFFECT: higher efficiency. 3 cl, 6 dwg
