WATER ENGINE-DRIVE Russian patent published in 1997 - IPC

FIELD: mechanical engineering; shipbuilding. SUBSTANCE: engine-drive has detachable housing, shaft, impeller, stuffing boxes and assembly limiters. When impeller is placed in flow of water (liquid, gas, etc.), it starts rotating under pressure of water setting in rotation the shaft whose free end may be used as drive. Since impeller is kept in water, shaft will be cooled to some degree. Shaft rotates in oil-graphite mixture ("envelope") which excludes friction against housing of engine. EFFECT: noiseless operation due to absence of bearing units.
