FIELD: nuclear power engineering. SUBSTANCE: reservoir has a protective liner made of alternate layers of graphite cloth and zirconium foil. Densities and thicknesses of the cloth and the foil are chosen so that a certain relationship is satisfied. When melted core components come into contact with the liner, a coating resistant to the melt is formed at the expense of the thermal energy of the melt from a composition material with a ceramic matrix incorporating zirconium carbide. EFFECT: enhanced safety of reactors during core melt accidents or in experiments simulating these accidents. 2 cl, 1 dwg
