Ring space 12 between the packing and wall of the column is significantly overlapped with portions 30 of the ring members. The ring member is an individual member and its flat lengthened portions 21 is in a contact with packing 2 and overhanging portions 30 are flexibly connected with portions 31 that are in a contact with the packing.
