SUBSTANCE: device for checking operation of shoe brake and wear of friction linings has shoe position pickups, friction lining wear pickups and relay operating in case of trouble to generate signal making vehicle stop when position and wear pickups detect jamming of shoes or intolerable wear of linings. Method includes automatic modelling of defective position of shoes and wear of friction linings, carried out in cycles and constantly, to check operation of relay in case of trouble, and also data processing means.
