FIELD: application of metal coatings to large-size articles of complicated configuration; applicable in cooling of articles and metal rolled products after heat treatment in metallurgy and mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: method includes blowing through chamber with articles of cold air at velocity of more than 8 m/s. Supplied into cold air is water mist, and cooling is effected by circulating flow of coolant. Besides, water for formation of mist is cooled to 10-15 C. The device for high-rate cooling of articles has chamber with covers and air blowing and circulating system with fan provided with mist-forming mixer of water with air.
