DEVICE FOR CREATING DIRECTED FISSURES IN BORE-HOLES Russian patent published in 1997 - IPC

FIELD: mining industry. SUBSTANCE: fissures are produced in bore-holes for degassing coal and salt seams, separation of blocks from rock mass, at mining of valuable crystalline raw materials and construction stone. Fissures are produced by simultaneous subjection of rock to wedging action and hydrostatic pressure. Device for realization of aforesaid has body with circular tapered protrusion, central inlet passage and radial holes for discharge of working fluid, hole for delivery of working fluid and hole in its end. Screwed in body of device is adapter bush and attached to it is chamber of elliptic cross section made of material possessing shape memory effect. Wedges are secured on chamber surface in plane of large axis of its cross section. Connected to chamber is pipe which is inserted through hollow of body along its axis and is mounted to pipe union screwed in hole. Fitted to body is flexible pipe which by one end is pressed against body by bush with inner tapered surface with the help of nut, and by its other end is adjoining circular tapered protrusion. Device is provided with pipe union and gasket. It is positioned in bore-hole at required depth and preset orientation. Pumped through pipe union is high-viscous working fluid and this leads to creation of directed fissure. EFFECT: high efficiency. 3 cl, 3 dwg
