FIELD: agriculture, horticulture. SUBSTANCE: method deals with selecting fruit samples and carrying out biochemical assay for ethylene extraction by fruit. Moreover, ethylene extraction is determined for intact fruit only. For gathering it is necessary to select batches of early winter fruit varieties at ethylene extraction intensity of 1.8-3.9 mcl/g/h and those of late winter ones at ethylene extraction intensity of 0.3-0.6 mcl/g/h.
