FIELD: electrical engineering. SUBSTANCE: device has insulating case ribbed outside and built up of two parts joined together by sealed joint and provided with top and bottom terminal leads. Case accommodates nonlinear resistor and its fastening and contact-transfer members. Both parts of insulating case are made as shells whose end parts have central holes to receive pin-type terminal leads. Edges of case walls are joined together by means of sealing adhesive. Manufacturing process involves connection of two parts of insulating case at the same time sealing the joint, installation of nonlinear resistor, its members for its fastening inside case and for transmitting contact to terminal leads, wiring of terminal leads simultaneously with sealing the insulating case. Pin-type terminal leads are first to be wired in both parts of insulating case and simultaneously sealed, then nonlinear resistor is placed in one of case parts together with its fastenings and contact-transfer member. After that, both parts of insulating case are joined together by means of adhesive.
