FIELD: biophysics; medical engineering; experimental medicine; clinical research for determining functional state of body tissues and organs, in particular their viability. SUBSTANCE: proposed apparatus acts upon principle of direct measurements of "polarization factor" of biological tissues, i.e. measurements of low-frequency impedance-to-high-frequency impedance ratio, value of which makes possible to judge on functional state of tissue. Apparatus comprises high- and low-frequency generators, two commutators, one of which is formed as selector, electric current stabilizer, current- carrying and voltage-applying electrodes housed in test prod, wide-band measuring amplifier, clock pulse generator, low- and high-frequency detectors, low-frequency impedance-to-high-frequency impedance ratio measuring unit, and display unit. Apparatus offers accurate measurement results due to incorporation into it of four-electrode circuit and automatic commutation assembly.
