FIELD: production of chemically deposited chalk for use, as filler, in rubber and cable products, in perfumes and cosmetics, in production of paper, paints and varnishes. SUBSTANCE: proposed method comprises following steps of: slaking lime with water, carbonizing lime milk in presence of modifying additive, viz. sodium hydrosulphite added in amount 0.1-1.0 wt.% based on weight of final product at temperature 20-50 C, followed by filtering and drying chalk product. EFFECT: produced chalk has low density (up to 0!25 g/cub/cm), low oil absorption (up to 30%) and enhanced whiteness (whiteness increase by at least 7%). 1 tbl
