FIELD: thermal power plants and internal combustion engines. SUBSTANCE: method consists in taking fuel from reservoir, measuring moisture content in fuel and directing fuel for homogenization in several flows. Water is fed in separate flow for homogenization. After homogenization, volume equalization of concentration of water-fuel emulsion thus obtained is effected through directing the emulsion via several pipe lines whose lengths L before mixing the flows satisfies the following inequality: , where i is flow of fuel. After mixing the flows, moisture content of water-fuel emulsion is measured and flow rate of water is set in accordance with measured magnitude and moisture content of starting fuel. EFFECT: increase of efficiency of engine by 25-5 percent; reduced amount of soot particles in combustion products by 5 times as compared with burning mazout separated beforehand in special-purpose equipment. 14 cl, 1 dwg, 1 tbl
