VERSATILE AERODYNAMIC MODEL AND METHOD OF ITS PRODUCTION Russian patent published in 1997 - IPC

FIELD: tests in wind tunnels for research of aircraft aeroelastic stability with control system. SUBSTANCE: aerodynamic model uses elastic frame 1 and skin 2 of composite material linked with the frame beams by means of ribs. The skin has the main (5) and auxiliary sections. The main skin section, for instance of the wing, and the lower auxiliary skin section adjoining the main one with formation of slots 8 have a stiffening in the form of a crust of polymeric material (for instance, foam plastic). Auxiliary section 6 of the skin (and members 10 of slitted ribs) is linked with the main (5) one (and rib members 11) by means of locks 12. Rib members 11 are linked with the frame by means of joints 13. Skin vents are formed by disks 15 of bands with calibrated vent holes brought to which from the model inside are vent lines 16. From the outside the vent holes are closed with a thin layer of transparent composite material. In the process of production of the model measurements of stiffness characteristics of the elastic frame, for instance of wing spar 1, are taken. First, rib members 11 are installed on the spar, then rib members 10 are joined to them by means of locks 12. For formation of skin 2 a crust of foam plastic is attached to the ribs over the entire outline of the profile and coated with a transparent layer of composite material. The model stiffness characteristics are measured on an assembled model, the skin sections are removed and the stiffness of frame 1 is brought to the required one in a similarity relation. The main (5) and auxiliary skin sections are installed. Vent holes in the skin are opened before the test of the model in a wind tunnel. EFFECT: improved design. 2 cl, 3 dwg
