FIELD: agriculture, in particular, production of vegetables, such as cucumber, in constructions with protected ground or in hydroponic greenhouses. SUBSTANCE: method involves periodically switching on and off light sources for predetermined periods of time; assigning number to each light source from beginning to end of the row; switching on for 10-14 hours light sources with even and odd numbers with following switching off these light sources; switching on for 10-14 hours light sources with odd or even numbers; cyclically repeating switching on - off operations. Greenhouse carcasses are arranged in rows and cucumber growing chambers are mounted in carcasses. Light sources are positioned above growing chambers. EFFECT: increased efficiency, reduced power consumption and improved quality of vegetables. 3 dwg
