FIELD: communication systems including satellite communication systems incorporating main ground exchange, network of small ground exchanges, and geostationary satellite-repeater. SUBSTANCE: according to first option, polling signal containing address part of automatic exchange is shaped at main exchange during respective time-step spaces, this signal is encoded by first code sequence, and radiated through satellite-repeater towards respective automatic exchange. According to second option, polling signal including address part of automatic exchange is also shaped at main exchange during respective time-step spaces, but it is modulated and radiated through satellite towards respective automatic exchange. EFFECT: improved capacity of communication system without extending satellite-ground channel spectrum, reduced mass and size characteristics and power requirement of ground exchanges and equipment of geostationary satellites; simplified design of ground exchange hardware; simplified algorithms for connecting subscribers in system. 2 cl, 6 dwg
