SWITCH FOR HIGH SPEED RAILWAY LINES Russian patent published in 1997 - IPC

FIELD: railway transport; permanent way facilities; switches. SUBSTANCE: switch has rails of main track placed on underrail base and mated with rails of side track and straight track. Rails 2, 3 of main track are provided with movable ends coupled with switching drive in zone of coupling with above indicated rails. Switch has device for fixing movable ends of rails 2, 3. Wedge 6 with cut off point and tail portion in form of dovetail is secured between movable ends of rails 2, 3 and ends of inner rails of straight and side tracks on under-rail base. Width of cut off point directed towards side of movable ends of rails 2, 3 of main track is equal to width of rail head. Outer side faces of wedge tail portion are arranged on one straight line with outer faces of inner rails of straight and side tracks. Rails 2, 3 of main track with movable ends are interconnected by braces 4, each being made in form of triangle in plan. Two apices of triangle are rigidly secured on web of one rail and third one is secured on web other rail for movement relative to the rail.
