FIELD: railway track maintenance. SUBSTANCE: this relates to mechanized laying of railway track sections. Device has hydraulic pump unit with drive, hydraulic power cylinder, wedge-type rail grip connected with rod of hydraulic cylinder which is rigidly secured on boom pivotally mounted on bracket. Bracket is rigidly fastened on frame of track-laying crane in its forward part. Also provided is mechanism for bringing device in working and transport positions which is made up of double-drum unit with drums of different diameters mounted on axle which is secured on frame of track-laying crane, and two ropes with one of them reeved on larger diameter drum and connected with boom, and with other rope reeved on smaller diameter drum and connected with return spring fastened on frame of track-laying crane.
