FIELD: industry for production of construction materials. SUBSTANCE: this relates to protection from wear and damage of facing plates made of natural stone. Method implies application of protective water-repelling compound to face surface of plates after their fastening to building structure, and cleaning of face surface. After preset time intervals, preferably once in three months, face surface is subjected to ultrasonic fault-finding, and in case ultrasound velocity deviates from nominal value by 15-20%, protective compound is repeatedly applied to face surface of plates.
