FIELD: measurement technology; measuring moisture content of gases by dew point method. SUBSTANCE: method involves cooling of optically transparent body section through which light beam is passed and changes in intensity of the latter are recorded. Rate of gas feed to cooled section is limited to level determined by diffusion of gas molecules. Dew point meter has optically transparent body 1 connected to light beam radiator 5 and its converter 7, cooler 9, temperature gage 8, and sampling tube 10 attached to cooled section body and positioned in direction of action of gravitational forces. Ratio of tube inner sectional area S to surface area of cooled section is greater than 5, l2/S>25, where l is length of sampling tube. Tube end is beveled.
