FIELD: water purity monitoring. SUBSTANCE: method is designed for checking water purity in natural reservoirs, in particular, for detecting potentially toxic chemical substances. A series of types of organisms-sensors is selected. For each organism-sensor, hydrobiological experiments are performed to determine their susceptibility to potentially toxic chemical substances. From these experiments, a system of reference databases is created. Then a series of hydrobiological experiments is performed to determine effect of water with unknown potentially toxic chemical substance on parameters of selected organism-sensors. By way of treating experimental results, potentially toxic chemical substance or a group of substances is identified and its content in sample is estimated. EFFECT: improved procedure. 3 dwg @35m
