METHOD FOR SWITCHING TAPS OF TRANSFORMER WINDING Russian patent published in 1997 - IPC

FIELD: electric engineering, in particular, control of operating power and converting transformers. SUBSTANCE: device has thyristor control unit, which has two thyristor gates, which are connected to taps of transformer winding, and control system, which has two voltage detectors, two AND gates, flip-flop and matching circuits, which are connected to gate control circuits. The goal is achieved by control method which involves reading control pulses from thyristor gate which is being switched off and their transmission to thyristor gate which is being switched on in times which advance zero voltage transition at step of regulation winding. During stepping-up regulation of output voltage of transformer, advance angle is set to β1, which conforms to condition that interval of at least thyristor switching-off time is kept from moment when thyristor gates are switched to zero voltage level at regulation winding step. During stepping-down regulation of output voltage of transformer, advance angle is set to β2, which conforms to condition of permissible currents in constructive members; β1> β2.
